Caregiver Rights in the Workplace

The EEOC’s Employer Best Practices for Workers with Caregiving Responsibilities is available on-line and offers practical and legal advice to create and maintain caregiver-friendly workplaces.  The guide may help to dispel some employee detrimental biases, such as assuming that women who work part-time are less committed to their jobs or that males have little if any caregiving responsibilities.

With all employees anxious about how secure their employment is, employers should be sensitized to the potential for discrimination claims if they opt to adversely impact those with child and elder care responsibilities.  And don’t assume that single employees don’t have caregiver concerns!
