How Secure is our Social Security?

The Office of the Chief Actuary indicated in July that applications for benefits were running 7 percent higher than the predicted 15 percent increase for 2009.  Because early retirees will receive reduced benefits for life, the Chief Actuary says the increased applications will not significantly affect the solvency of the program.
